About
A free, fast HTTP status code checker without the bloat.
Why this exists
Every other status code checker we tried wanted an account, sold a subscription, or buried the answer under banner ads and ten other tools we did not need. We built this because sometimes you just want to paste a URL and see the code.
How it works
Type a URL, hit Check, and our server fetches the URL on your behalf and reports back what it found: the final status code, the response time, the redirect chain (if any), the server software, and the content type. Nothing is stored, nothing is logged to your account, because there is no account.
What it cannot check
The tool can only check publicly accessible URLs. It will not work on pages that require a login, are behind a corporate firewall, are hosted on private networks, or are protected by aggressive anti-bot systems. For internal URLs, you will need a tool that runs inside your network.
Who built it
GetStatusCodes was built by White Whale Web, a web development agency in Boise, Idaho that specializes in civic and government websites. We make a lot of these little side tools because they are useful to us internally and we figure they might be useful to other people too.
